Come on a ride with us…Our Byron Bay Wedding
February 27th, 2012 § Leave a Comment
I am stoked to be able to share some amazing photos from my wedding in Byron Bay in Dec 2011. We had had a week of torrential rain leading up to it and I had come to terms with the fact that my heels may be traded in for gumboots….so I was over the moon when somehow it didnt rain on our day.
Our ceremony was on Clarkes Beach, Byron Bay and guest only had to stumble off the sand to the reception which was at the Byron Beach Cafe. The venue was amazing and was perfect for the relaxed vibe we were after! We found lots of vintage bits and pieces at Heaths Old Wares in Bangalow to help set the scene and our amazing photos are by You Cant Be Serious.
I surprised Scotty on the day with a wedding gift, a new Tom Wegener longboard. Im in love with the tradition behind these boards and the passion and time that goes into making a paulownia timber board. When I picked the board up from Tom, he had told me how much of an honor it was to make this as a wedding gift and that over the years this board would grow with us. It will become a family board, the board scotty and I will teach our kids to surf on and the board we will grow old riding!
Good times ahead….Enjoy!

Hi all, Iím Susi, a writer for Design Shuffle, a wonderful online community where designers from around the world can share their projects and inspiration.† I’m lucky that I get to virtually travel and visit design blogs around the world and share interior design ideas and inspiration. Today I’m guest blogging here at What the Traveler Brings, which is one of my favorite places to find inspiration.† My post is all about collections of a traveler. How do we incorporate our love of travel into our homes? Here are some of my favorite ways to decorate with memories and inspiration of travel past and future. Enjoy!

This gorgeous collage wall is a collection of antique and vintage luggage.† Such collections inspire the wanderlust every traveler has inside.

Love the stack of luggage in a foyer.† Great storage and gives the feeling of recent or eminent travel.† Luggage is a great collection for a traveler.

In addition to suitcases, vintage trunks and hat boxes make charming collections that are functional and† stylish.† The most coveted of vintage luggage are pieces by Louis Vuitton.

Decorating ideas for a traveler include incorporating things that inspire memories and dreams of future trips.† Using maps to make lampshade covers can create a subtle nod to travel, and is a good use for leftover maps from your latest trip. Plus this lamp can be used in any bedroom design!

Vintage globes or even new globes that you customize make wonderful dÈcor and collections for the traveler. Love the idea of personalizing a globe based on travels or a favorite travel inspired book.

Another DIY project for a traveler is these custom coasters. Make them with your favorite images of your travels and simple square tiles. You could even hang a collection on the wall.

Travel posters make for great collections for the traveler. Chose a specific destination or form a collection of places you’ve visited. Love the nostalgic feeling of vintage posters. This works so well in living room, bedroom, kitchen or even bathroom designs.

Collecting natural treasures from your travels is a good way to recall far away locales.† Place them in shadow boxes, bowls and trays to display your travel memories.

The Garden Furniture by Kevin Hunt
May 31st, 2011 § Leave a Comment
The Garden Furniture project came about through an interest in making sculpture that uses both permanent and ephemeral materials, altering a static piece of furniture by covering it in living, growing grass, the work therefore changed over time, altering itself, a process that became beyond my control.
